STORYCRAFT PARENT & CHILD CLASSES

Friday Storycraft Parent and Child classes are for children aged around 2 to 5 years old. Weekend Classes are open to children aged around 2 to 8 years old. Younger children come with a parent or a carer, from 4.5 years children can attend the class as a drop-off or with a parent or carer.

We start every class with a story from a fun picture book. Some of our favourite authors at Storycraft are Julia Donaldson, Helen Stephens, Oliver Jeffers and Benji Davies, but we also like discovering new picture books so usually they'll be a mixture of stories you know and probably a few stories you don't.

After the storytime there is normally a short demo showing parents and children the suggested project for the class. The art and craft project will normally relate to the theme of the story. Every term we will have a good variety of projects, often including 2D and 3D projects, structured crafts and more freestyle experiments. Some projects are one week, others span a few weeks. Every term we use a variety of artistic materials and introduce children and parents to different techniques, for example watercolor, acrylic and gouache paints, clay cutters and modeling, mixed-media collage and clay or papier mache sculpture, stamping and stencils, pastels and charcoal. At Storycraft we particularly like getting messy and we like mixed-media crafts which allow us to bring lots of colour, texture and sensory experience for little ones into the art room.

We love singing and action rhymes at Storycraft, not to mention all those animal noises in Old MacDonald! So time permitting we try and finish each class with a song or two. Classes are held in English but most of our teachers speak some German as well. We have lots of children of different nationalities at our classes and everyone is welcome. Our classes are a great way to introduce young children to English.

SUMMER TERM - Amazing Animals

After the Spring holidays we`ll swing into summer with some awesome animals. We will read some fun books including `How to Hide a Lion` by Helen Stephens, the classic `The Tiger who came to Tea` by Judith Kerr and `Panda Bear Panda Bear What do you see?` by Eric Carle. We will be inspired to make some awesome animal creations including Tiger Masks, Lion T-shirts, an Animal Photo Frame, a Panda Pencil Pot and a Jungle Diorama filled with fabulous flowers and colourful clay animals. This term will involve plenty of fun painting, decorating with fun embellishments as well as fabric painting and a play with coloured clay. We will also sing some of our favourite action rhymes and songs. We hope you can join us for some Amazing Animal Fun!
