STORYCRAFT TERM CLASSES

Storycraft Term classes are for children aged around 2-10 years. Younger children under 4 always come with a parent or a carer. Children who are 4 years and over and who can work fairly independently are welcome to attend the class as a drop-off or with a parent or carer as preferred. (For children over 7 years you may also be interested in our drop-off Little Artist Classes.)

We start every class with a story from a fun picture book. Some of our favourite authors at Storycraft are Julia Donaldson, Helen Stephens, Oliver Jeffers and Benji Davies, but we also like discovering new picture books so usually they'll be a mixture of stories you know and probably a few stories you don't.

After the storytime the teacher will show you how to make the suggested art or craft project. The art and craft project will normally relate to the theme of the story. Every term we will have a good variety of projects, often including 2D and 3D projects, structured crafts and more freestyle experiments. Some projects are one week, others span more weeks. Every term we use a variety of artistic materials and introduce children and parents to different techniques, for example watercolor, acrylic. fabric and gouache paints, clay cutters and modeling, mixed-media collage and clay or papier mache sculpture, stamping and stencils, pastels and charcoal. At Storycraft we particularly like getting messy and we like mixed-media crafts which allow us to bring lots of colour, texture and sensory experience into the art room.

Our classes normally finish with a song or two. Our longer 90 minute weekday classes usually include some time for children to do some freestyle making. Our classes are held in English but some teachers speak some German as well. We have lots of children of different nationalities at our classes and everyone is welcome. Our classes are a great way to introduce young children to English. Please see the details below for the times.

SPRING TERM - Food Glorious Food

After the Sportsferien we will start our new term `Food Glorious Food` which will take us up to Easter and Fruhlingsferien. We`ll have a fantastic food party with some super silly books this term including `Kitchen Disco` by Clare Foges, `Pass the Jam Jim` by Kaye Umansky and `Burger Boy` by Alan Durant. We will be inspired to make some fabulous food projects including Cupcake Tote Bags, a colourful clay Doughnut Photoframe, Clay Burger playfood, Watermelon Canvas, Birthday Cake giftbox and Play Ice Creams. This term will be such fun, involving plenty of play with clay and colourful painting, not to mention all that squirty sauce and sprinkles! We will also sing some of our favourite action rhymes and songs. We hope you can join us for some Glorious Food fun!
